An Audio Message from John Lundell in Support of the Johnson County Justice Center

John Lundell received both his B.S. and M.A. at the The University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa. He has served as the Deputy Director of the University of Iowa Injury Prevention Research Center (UI IPRC) where he has worked for the past 18 years. The UI IPRC is located in the College of Public Health and is one of eight CDC-funded Injury Control Research Centers in the US. Over the years John has worked on numerous public health initiatives in the state such as the IDPH Healthy Iowans and the Iowa DOT Comprehensive Highway Safety Plan processes. He has enjoyed working with IPHA colleagues on advocacy issues aimed at enhancing Iowa’s Graduated Driver’s License system and occupant restraint legislation.
Mr. Lundell is also active in several national injury and violence prevention organizations. He is a former secretary and newsletter editor and current leadership team member of APHA’s Injury Control and Emergency Health Services (ICEHS) section. John recently finished eight years of service on the Safe States Alliance Executive Committee, the last four as Treasurer. At the local level, he serves as Treasurer of the Iowa City-Coralville Safety Village. He is in his ninth year on the Coralville City Council and serves as Mayor Pro-tem. John is a retired firefighter and is Vice President of the State of Iowa Firefighters Memorial Park.
