Dr. Linda Snetselaar, Associate Provost of Outreach and Engagement in the Office of the Provost at the University of Iowa, introduces the day’s events and outlines the purpose and goals of the Incarcerated in Iowa Symposium.
Dr. Snetselaar is the Associate Provost of Outreach and Engagement in the Office of the Provost at the University of Iowa. She is also a Professor of Epidemiology in the College of Public Health and holds an endowed chair of Preventive Nutrition Education in the Department of Epidemiology. In 2012-2013 she served as the University of Iowa’s President of Faculty Senate.
She is also the director of the Nutrition Center and has served in the past as the Interim Departmental Executive Officer for the College of Public Health Department of Community and Behavioral Health.
Now the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, her research interests include relationships between diet and cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer and renal disease with several current research projects focused on promoting health and reducing obesity risk factors in Iowa communities.
